The SOWA Open Market, an open-air venue for artists, craftsmen, collectioners, farmstands and other vendors makes its seasonal debut each year in May. It opens in tandem with the SoWa Art Walk. Initiated in 1965 with the purchase of a Tremont St. block, the Boston Center for the Arts is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to supporting all types of artists in their creative endeavors. This 4-acre complex houses the Mills Gallery, The Cyclorama, the Calderwood Pavillion, 2 rehearsal spaces and artist studios open to public viewing. The theaters host a frequently changing array of contemporary performances; check the website calendar for upcoming events.

The mission of the Topf Center for Dance Education is to enhance the lives of urban youth using the art, creativity, and discipline of dance
to develop their academic, social, and physical well-being.
A not-for-profit dance education organization since 1974, the Topf Center provides under-served youth with access to quality dance programs. Its outreach program, in partnership with the Boston Public Schools, teaches dance and uses dance as a language to teach other academic and life skills. In addition, the Center works with youth who are both at and in risk.
